Personal Experiences and Facts

IV chelation therapy with EDTA is done by inserting a needle in a vein and giving approx 3 grams ethyllenediamine-tetraacetic acid in an intravenous drip. A little Heparin (blood thinner) is used as anticoagulant and Lidocaine to diminish pain at the site of injection.

The treatment usually takes 3 hours and costs around $200.00 per session (latest I've seen is $300.00 at some clinics).

I first heard of it 30 years ago, while attending a nutrition class taught by Dr. Carleton Fredericks at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Dr. Fredericks was a nutritional educator with his own radio show, and advisor to pioneering holistic medical doctors of the time - Dr. Warren Levin, Dr. Robert Atkins, Dr. Michael Schachter and others. These doctors used intravenous EDTA chelation for patients with serious conditions such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Some of my massage and Rolfing clients chose to do IV EDTA chelation and reported significant health benefits. Below are stories of just two of them.

Rejuvenation Story

Years ago, I urged one of my longtime clients to consider IV chelation therapy. An 86 year old man (we'll call him Tom), he was quite a character.

One of the interesting things about this man was that he always seemed to have a young lady in his life. One of them that I met was in her 20's! (And no, it wasn't for money; he was not very wealthy).

There came a time when Tom was not doing so well. (I could tell because suddenly, he wasn't telling jokes anymore). He mentioned that his doctor just told him he didn't have much time to live.

Severe atherosclerosis (plaque build-up), was causing progressive occlusion (blockage) of the arteries in his brain. Unfortunately, the doctor said, there was nothing that could be done.

Tom did make one joke however. He quipped, 'There comes a time when you shouldn't buy any green bananas.' Meaning you might not live to see them to ripen.

Tom also intimated that his love life had come to a complete standstill. He was very unhappy about that.

I urged him to go for an appointment with Dr. Michael Schachter, who had a thriving holistic medical practice in the area, and suggested he ask Dr. Schachter about EDTA IV chelation. I told Tom how chelation works to improve circulation.

He followed my suggestion. Within a few months, Tom reported that not only had his vision and vitality improved as a result of the IV chelation, so had his love life!

Tom lived into his mid-90's. Periodically he went to Dr. Schachter for a series of IV EDTA chelation treatments. He also took nutritional supplements, ate a healthy diet and continued his Rolfing and massage sessions with me.

Tom never entered a nursing home. He lived alone in the house he had been in for many years. Until the very end, he truly enjoyed his life.

and Severe Brain Damage

Previous to the time Tom went to Dr. Schachter for chelation, I was called on to do in-home Rolfing sessions with a young woman; (we'll call her Dorothy, not her real name).

She was thought by her doctors to have suffered brain damage from encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). Before she became ill, Dorothy had been a normal, happy, vivacious person.

When I arrived for the session, her parents ushered me to her room.

There, I was shocked by the sight of a drooling, moaning woman sitting in a wheelchair, her body contorted, her hands twisted into claws.

Dorothy's mom and dad helped me lift her onto the table.

She couldn't speak, but COULD understand me. As her series of Rolfing sessions progressed, we developed a natural, enjoyable rapport.

Dorothy's parents told me that she always looked forward to her sessions.

Eager and willing to do as much as she could, Dorothy inspired me with her strong determination to recover. Her parents were equally dedicated, having set up special exercise equipment for physical therapy. They had also improved the family's diet to include wholesome, organic foods.

Dorothy's body was extremely hypertonic (strung wire-tight), and always in spasm. While the Rolfing helped her to move and feel better, it was slow going.

Years later, during Tom's treatment with EDTA IV chelation, he told me one of the other patients also having the chelation wanted him to 'say hello' to me.

"There's a young lady patient in my IV chelation group at Dr. Schachter's who says she knows you,' Tom declared. 'She tells everyone how you Rolfed her years ago - talks a mile a minute about how it helped her and how much she liked you.'

'What's her name?'

'Dorothy. She was brought in, in a wheelchair. The doctor found she had extremely high levels of mercury in her body. Couldn't walk, couldn't talk. Now she walks in on her own and can't stop talking!'

Wow - Dorothy's problem had been mercury toxicity! IV EDTA chelation restored Dorothy to a normal, happy human being!

Why Would IV Chelation with

Dorothy's story has important relevance for all of us. Serious illness can result from exposure to metal toxicity.

Conventional medicine often refuses to recognize that exposure to mercury toxicity, aluminum or lead poisoning and other toxic materials can cause so-called 'incurable' conditions.

Many illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's and Lou Gehrig's disease have a high correlation with exposure to mercury, lead and other toxic metals.
